The Worship Leader Program of the Diocese of Michigan is presented through the Whitaker School of Theology
as a way to equip lay persons to conduct public worship in a competent and orderly manner while being of assistance to the
clergy and people of their congregations in the common worship of God.
This new pilot program is the result of numerous conversations with participants who have experienced the
course and asked for a more integrated content and practical worship experience in a shorter, more intense time frame.
This is not just a course on how to read the prayer book. It is designed to be a course which addresses the
need to approach worship in a prayerful, disciplined and educated manner. It is necessary to pray the liturgy, not just read
the words, when leading the people of God in worship.
This course will address the practical, academic, and spiritual components of leading worship, as well as the nature
of our Anglican heritage and identity and their place in our worship today.
